Error 15276 QuickBooks

While updating QuickBooks you might see an error occurring in the system that shows the update could not be completed. This error is an alarm message when one file is already in use and as you update it fails to displace the programs leading to an error code 15276 in QuickBooks.

If Windows has an inaccurate entry while registering then the programs installed will be at fault including the QuickBook. There might be issues with the third-party apps or viruses affecting the system.

What is the reason for QuickBooks Payroll update error 15276?

Whatever software you use on the desktop, you need to update to the latest version at some point or else it might show a faulty error. But here in this case the error appears on updates indicating the update is not completed successfully.

The system shows the error 15276 when the operating system is unable to fully update the software. Sometimes the issue might be with your drivers or Harddisk or other facts that prohibit the updating process.

  • The database files are fully corrupted. This is the reason for such an error.
  • You installed the software and drivers that are incompatible.
  • If you have not changed the defective hard drive and because of which other programs will also be at fault.
  • If the windows registry is entered wrongly the whole system will appear with an error.
  • The hardware is defective which leads to displaying errors.

What is the resolution for Error 15276 in QuickBooks?

While trying to update the program if the error occurs then you need to launch the digital signature certificate. Make sure the signature should be available on the windows. You can also try repairing the  Windows Registry and rectifying the settings of Internet Explorer.

i) Launch Digital Signature Certificate:

DSC or Digital Signature Certificate is an electronic signature s in the form of a paper certificate. There are numerous features of DSC like it helps in proving one’s identification, Internet Details, and digital signature. In case the above certificates are missing, QB tends to appear with an error. 

The steps that you need to follow:-

  • Click on “Windows Explorer”.
  • Next, select the “QuickBooks” option heading to the “Drive C” folder.
  • Search for the “QBW.exe ” file and then right-click.
  • Select the “Properties” tab.
  • After that, select the  “Digital Signature” option.
  • Next, verify the selected option “Intuit Inc.”
  • Now, move to the Details Signature tab and choose Details.
  • Tap on the  “Install Certificate” tab.
  • Choose the Continue tab.

After installing the Digital signature on the desktop now you need to restart the PC and then install the QB.

ii) Examine the QuickBook Payroll Subscription:

If the status of the service key is not active then the Payroll update will be stopped in the middle of an update.

The following steps that you need to follow:-

  • Select the “Employees” option in order to open it.
  • Select the “My Payroll Services” option.
  • Next, choose the “Manage Service” tab.
  • After that tap on the View tab. On clicking, the status of the service key will appear.
  • The status should appear as  “Active”.
  • If the status shows “Not Active”, then tap the “Add” tab.
  • Now you can include the service key you obtained via email.
  • Now, you can tap on the “Ok” tab.

Do not forget to restart the system and after that update the payroll.

iii) Repairing of Windows Registry:

Here on the Windows systems, the database enables storing the low-level settings known to be as Windows Registry. If the registry seems to be corrupted, you might find other issues with the software.

The steps here will guide you to repair the registry:-

  • Install the command “Run”.
  • Heading to the window “appwiz.cpl”.
  • Click the Enter tab and the program list will pop up.
  • Now, Locate “QuickBooks”.
  • Choose the option “Uninstall or Repair”.
  • Select the “Repair” tab as our goal is to repair the windows registry.
  • Go through the instructions displayed on the screen.
  • After completing you need to start updating to check if the error persists.
  • Also do not forget to check the date and time settings in order to avoid the error.

iv) Examine the Settings of  Internet Explorer:

If you want the computer system to work smoothly you need to check for Internet Explorer on the Settings tab.

The instructions that you need to follow:-

  • First and foremost, click on the Launch tab in order to install  “Internet Explorer” on the desktop.
  • Check for the “Gear” tab.
  • Choose from the menu “Tools”.
  • After that select “Internet Options”.
  • Now, shift to the “General” option.
  • Tap on the “Delete” key.
  • Next, select the “Temporary Internet Files” option.
  • Select the “Delete” option again.
  • Go to the “Connections” sector and then tap “LAN Settings” in order to open.
  • Select the checkmark for the option “Automatically Detect Settings”. At the same moment do not select the option “Proxy Server”.
  • Now move to the “Advanced” option.
  • Check if the options “SSL 2.0” & “SSL 3.0” are already marked. If not then you need to select it. Also, select “TLS 1.2” from the list.

These are the settings you need to set to avoid the 15276 error code while updating QB or Payroll.
